ABOUT THE VORGMany People have asked, so here it is...
VORG is the acronym for Voice Over Resource Guide It was 1988 while in the waiting room of the Voicecaster when I reached into my back pocket and took out my very old folded-up listing of studios and casting houses to plan how I was going to get to where I was going next. A few of the actors in the Voicecaster waiting room noticed my tattered list and asked me for a copy. It was that night when reflecting over the days events that I decided to go to press with the Voice Over Guide. I expanded my back pocket list by adding categories and more free listings in each category. I had a few thousand Voice Over Guides printed at my expense and started handing them out wherever I went. The response was always positive. I’m thankful to the many industry people who gave insight as to how they used my six panel, two fold handout. As time passed, many people asked me to expand the listings and categories, which I did. By late 1993 the VOG expanded to a eight panel, three fold and I was printing and distributing 5-7000 each quarter. Over the first ten years (’88-’98) many recording studios, production companies, workshops and duplicators called and wanted to buy Ad space. Whatever the personal cost, humanitarianism aside, it was time to expand not only the listings, but the categories as well.
After much research of Actors and Industry Insiders, I decided to launch the FULL COLOR, Advertiser Supported, Newsstand Voice Resource Over Guide, that was the summer of 1998. The Newsstand VORG now accepts display advertising, which helps it breathe life to the many thousands of people who use it daily. I sometimes feel that more importantly, the Ads provide as much information about our industry as the free listings do. With hundreds of changes per Issue, I feel proud of all the additions we’ve made along the way with our Newsstand VORG.
The last quarter of 2004 marked another milestone for the VORG Publishers, Dave & Dave Incorporated. We invited many to the Grand Opening of our industry’s only website www.VoiceOverResourceGuide.com. On the Web we have taken the opportunity to offer many more benefits to our publication. With the Newsstand VORG and the Online VORG complimenting one another we believe our industry will grow to be a more recognized thread in the fabric of America. With your support we’ll continue to expand. I hope you enjoy our service and growth as much as we thrive to bring it to you. |
